I’ll be your mirror

For a month my sibling and I „met“ to dance to the same songs at the same time. Alone in each our rooms in different cities, connected only by knowing that the other is dancing right now too. Additionally we sing songs, that remind us of the other.

The videos are shown next to each other, together they create a narrative of a long distance relationship, siblinghood, missing and supporting one another.

Additionally I was  interested in documenting our similarities in movements and gestures. We are 8 years apart, and for a long time due to our age difference, we looked very different. in recent years we become more and more alike, which I wanted to document.

The video installation was shown in an exhibition in Vaapaan Taiteen Tila, Helsinki in March 2020. The total length of the piece is 24 minutes.
