14 Hours

pencil on paper, sound piece, 1 x 6m, 2018

It’s easy to avoid boredom, but can we also be bored on purpose? If boredom means wanting to do something but you can’t, then I achieved creating it. This is what it looks like when I’m trying to do as close to nothing as possible and at the same time wanting to create an artwork. A drawing took form in 14 hours, pencil and paper as the only  way of keeping record. Additionally there is a 14 minute sound piece, a recording of the empty room I stayed in.

The work was shown in May 2018 at the Scaffold Gallery as part of the exhibiton “There’s No Such Thing As Boredom” . Photo credits: Scaffold Gallery
